On keeping a garden through a dry summer

Mulch early, water deeply and rarely, and accept that some plants will sulk until autumn. The tomatoes did better than expected; the basil did not.

A short list of good walks

Mornings along the reservoir trail are quiet before eight. The ridge loop is better in winter, when the air is clear enough to see the coast.
